statement
My ideas come directly from the hands-on experience of making and then observing my investigations into relationships of color and form. My process is both additive and subtractive. I use the tines of a comb to form grooves in wet paint and simultaneously leave traces of color that mark the surface of the work. The saturation of color is intensified within the grooves as light plays in between rows of increased surface area.
I believe in the significance of the object-hood of painting. The meaning of my work comes from the processes and methods that I use to make it. In this way, I share an affinity with the artists associated with post-painterly abstraction.
