The foundation from which my artwork grows comes from the connections I make between my irrational, chaotic side and my controlled, organized side.

Complex and energetic patterns such as brocade, paisley, and floral prints entice me because they are so subtle, yet at the same time overwhelming.  Combinations of these types of patterns, brightly saturated color, and digitally composited images of such things as flowers and man-made objects are the elements used in my work.

As I work, compulsions to create disarray begin to take the form of patterns, weaving and twisting their way onto everything.  A counterbalance to this is found within the work as my controlled, organized side works in opposition against the chaos being created.
 
My final rational thought is placing a bird that allows it to act as a mediator between the chaos and control.  Birds in their own nature are creatures of habit.  They find a balance in their lives, much like the balance I find within my artwork, but they appear to us as a very carefree species.
