Elizabeth Zanzinger is an emerging artist from the San Francisco Bay Area; who after exploring contemporary painting at CSU East Bay, went on to study the classical approach at the Aristides Atelier in Seattle, WA. Her current work is rooted in a motive of restraint; by dedicating herself to work from the classical nude figure and still life, she has been able to refine her skills in representational art.
She plans to use her studies to explore the inner life of the individual as one relates to society at large. Her currently developing body of work draws a parallel between the urban individual and archetypes in ancient literature, in order to explore the shared human experience across multiple cultures. Her intention as a painter is to draw from a rich artistic past to create engaging, contemporary imagery concerning our daily modern experience.
Her current work is done directly from life, without the aid of photography. She sees the life of an artist as a journey through continually evolving processes, whether the focus is technical or conceptual. She explores the beauty in that journey, the process, and the highly studied material form with all of the work she creates.
