statement

I work with several different media including painting, installation and object. Lately I am working with acrylic paints on photographic prints on canvas. Firstly I make photo documentation of fragments of urban area which I print on canvas. I then modify them using acrylic paint. I give new value to photographed objects, revitalize them, and deliberately leave a trace of the initial layer. I treat photography as a ground, that reflects reality and then expand on this reality to develop my work.  Through my paintings I am trying to explore both the fabric and peculiarities of modern society.

As a base I usually use shoots of urban infrastructure, public transport stops, benches, airports, scrap yards or accidentally found industrial parts which I compose in a specific arrangement. I photograph places of flow where present man stays every day, where he moves for example from home to work, where he waits for a train or a bus, where he spends more and more of his time. With these places and with meet people there rather no one come into deeper relationships. In fact, in these places the man is lonely in a crowd.

Using these fragments of urban spaces I create geometric abstractions. Using paint I disturb sensual perception of these places. These works catch one's eye but objects on them become non-functional. I create an absurd, often hilarious situations based on objects removed from everyday life. Using these items I focus on the man, on his immediate living space and on interact between objects and man, between natural and artificial.
My works are about present human environment, development of human living space and also about endless upgrades of modern society.
