statement
My paintings explore ordinary, everyday objects, disclosing unexpected aspects. The painting process opens an ongoing dialogue between painter and subject that shifts and adapts through sensitive observation as the painting progresses. This fluid process evolves through the course of a painting to ensure that my interrogation of the subject is authentic, utilizing iterative measurements, balanced and tempered by intuition. The interrogation produces cumulative, formal decisions that guide the conversation to its culmination. A successful, completed painting extends the dialogue between artist and subject, inviting the viewer to take part in the conversation.
