statement

I've always been a little obsessed with vehicles, and buildings.  Cars are powerful, and require control, yet are widely accessible.  Buildings are highly accessible too; we all live in live in them, go inside of them for groceries and events, and our general perception of them lies in what they offer to us.  Yet, if we take a closer look at their details we can find a history of the people that built them, fixed them, inhabited their spaces and drove them around, as well as the progress that takes place in their construction or a new coat of paint.  It is this idea of past, present and future being held in one object that is at the heart of my paintings.  Oil paint traditionally holds an image still in time, and I use it to suggest that these objects have moved, and will move, but are held for the viewe's inspection right between the two states.
