statement

"Scientists describe our brain in terms of its physical details; they say we are nothing but a loom of electrical cells and synaptic spaces. What science forgets is that this isn't how we experience the world. We feel like the ghost, not like the machine." Jonah Lehrer, Proust was a Neuroscientist

My work is driven by an evolving personal narrative, particularly my relationship with spirituality and the great dichotomy between faith and doubt, finding one's way through the darkness. I prefer to work without knowing what the painting will become, allowing  for a greater sense of freedom and discovery. It is a daily meditation, an exercise in relaxed presence and faith.

Architecture and the aesthetics of maps influence my work. I"m interested in "innate" geometrical forms and man's seemingly inherent need to impose geometrical structure on an amorphous world.

My work explores the tension of opposites, order versus chaos, the rational versus the intuitive, doubt versus faith. The paintings are part of a greater personal transformation, the search for balance and synthesis in my life.
