statement
My work utilizes the properties and boundaries of a medium to explore themes of contemporary life. I started this series of work by mixing the physicality of paint with the structure of a painting as a barrier. For me a barrier interacts with a viewer as cautionary, a challenge, creates viewpoints, and creates an internal X-ray vision for the weaving of dialogues. The dialogue is carried between an implied metaphor and the actual reality of the work to explore consumerism, memory, recycling, staging/theater, animalism, the still-life genre, and rescuing today's issues. For me the dialogue is the process that is left unfinished by me for the audience to continue.
