statement
Being miniatures, these two paintings are no larger than standard photo prints. There is something very self-satisfying about painting miniatures and it allows me to indulge in my love of brushwork but forces me to simplify. When painting, I often get caught up in rendering the tiniest of details such as woodgrain, fabrics, and patterns, but painting miniatures gives me the opportunity to lose myself in the piece as a whole. When doing a painting of this size, I get to treat the entire painting as a detail.
