statement
Similarly to many fine artists, I find studio practice an important element in contributing to the production and evolution of my work. I think "studio" is a state of mind – a "laboratory" where painting process is defined as investigation. In this respect I identify with Cezanne's process, who wrote: "The landscape reflects on itself, is humanized, thinks itself in me. I objectify it, project it, fix it on my canvas." I too, attempt , to analyze, internalize and filter the observed reality in my work, rather than simply imitating it.
When faced with a blank canvas, I do not always know where the process will take me. Painting is a search. Essentially, embodying the process of individuation, painting allows me to tap into the well of the collective unconscious and discover the unknown. Primarily, it fosters not the rational, but the emotional interpretation of the world, allowing me to understand myself in relationship to the complexity of experiences I encounter.
