statement
My paintings evolve quickly but resolve slowly. I usually discard early any plan or idea that may have originated a given painting. I tend not to work incrementally, but rather in comprehensive and distinct statements, which may build on or negate previous layers. The resulting works are pretty abstract, but they are seldom non-objective.
I don't always use a true rectangle as a support. When this is the case, I work with the understanding that most people would expect a rectangle. I'm interested in the tension between what's anticipated and what's delivered.
