statement
My art is an exploration of symbolism in an attempt to get at personal truth. I often paint isolated subjects which are autobiographically symbolic of current events in my life.
My core belief is that within painting there is a rhythm to be found between technique and concept. The seductiveness of a well-rendered painting can make a viewer more open to considering the symbolic aspects of a work of art. The rhythm I personally seek in my paintings is for the technique to look like the concept and for the concept to carry the weight of the commitment demanded by my technique. By painting the minute details of my subjects, my paintings reflect the layers of meaning inherent in my chosen symbols.
