statement
I make paintings of everyday things such as price stickers, outlets, and post-its. Establishing the incidental as subject stems from my interest in the attribution of meaning to perceptionóthe choice one has to assign meaning (or not) to situations and objects observed in daily life. This habit of perception allows one to abruptly assign and reassign meaning to events and objects, which produces a malleable sense of one's own reality. It is my aim that, after experiencing my work, a viewer will be momentarily aware of herself perceiving mundane Styrofoam cups, scraps of tape, and stray nails.
