statement
My small landscape works are mementos of remembered and imagined moments, mediated between illusion and abstraction. I use a muted palette so that the pictures are dampened, like worlds seen through a screen. I'm interested in imagery derived from technologies that simultaneously distort and expand visual perception: x-rays, night vision footage, and digital filters meant to unify and aestheticize a disjointed world.
I like to imagine that these images could be backdrops for some elusive narrative. They could depict settings for unwritten ghost stories. Or, conversely, they might represent moments of illumination, as when flashlight beams expel make-believe horrors from the undergrowth.
