Elizabeth Zanzinger is an emerging artist from the San Francisco Bay Area. After exploring contemporary painting at CSU East Bay, she went on to study the classical approach at the Aristides Atelier in Seattle, WA (Gage Academy of Art). Her current work reflects a motive of restraint, and she favors the simplicity of finely sharpened vine charcoal in most of her drawing work. Her current work is done directly from life, with an emphasis on direct observation and physical accuracy. Because of this, drawing plays a vital role, upon which a foundation is laid for all other forms of expression.
In her final months with the Aristides Atelier, the developing theme in Elizabeth's emerging work is the relationship between humanity and nature. Both are consuming forces in everyday life, whether through technological advances or the inevitable decay of all things. She sees the life of an artist as a journey through continually evolving processes, whether the focus is technical or conceptual. She explores the beauty in that journey, the process, and the highly studied material form with all of the work she creates.
