statement
In my drawing 'Grow', I wanted to convey the majestic and intricate beauty found in nature by carefully expressing the textures and subtle variations in value that each element in the drawing holds. The title and inspiration for this piece was derived from a song of the same name, in which a seed and a rose are planted in a grove in hopes for them to flourish. I wanted to recreate the strength and life of the forest in the song as seen in this drawing. 'Grow' is a symbol of how nature or people develop and wish to grow.
I graduated with honors from Baruch College, New York, with a B.A. in Graphic Design and Photography, and later pursued Drawing and Ceramics studies from Montgomery College, Maryland. At Montgomery, I was awarded a prestigious study abroad scholarship to learn the classic approach to drawing at Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. It was in Florence that I developed a great interest in Trompe L'oeil and portraiture, and was later selected as an apprentice at The Ani Art Academy Waichulis. My goal is to convey emotions and tell stories by infusing my unique imaginative concepts with her strongly developed contemporary style.
