statement
I attended The Cleveland Institute of Art five-year program and graduated with degrees in drawing and enameling. My studies with renowned enamelist William Harper changed my approach to drawing on paper. The layers of translucent melted glass in enamels and specialized techniques like cloisonne are translated into my paintings as ink washes and delicate scribed lines incised into the cotton paper. After graduating in 1987, I made very few enamels. My time was spent experimenting, developing the blending of painting and drawing skills into one strong visual image of abstract landscapes.
