statement
What I think about in art making is a way to make my act of actually doing the drawing – the task and chore of it – where I want to place meaning and purpose. To that end I tend to base my content on sources created by other people. It's as if because the subject is recognized as pre-existing it can be set aside for a moment to give foreground space to the transformative potential of drawing itself. My work as an artist then is to offer up this effort as a stand-in for what is diminutive, slow and personal into a daily world I find increasingly mediated, technological and over-constructed.
