This
drawing represents a body of work completed in Italy 2005.
All of the drawings were completed on site in various cities
including Rome, Florence, Venice and Siena. With endless
amounts of inspiration I couldn't help but to continue my
studies into the human figure. My hopes are to one day master
the art of figure drawing in the way that Michelangelo, Raphael,
and del Sarto did centuries prior. I believe that this can
be achieved through intensive study and keen observation.
Hence, these drawings represent the best of both worlds;
the culmination of the act of viewing and producing art.
A drawing which allows you to investigate and observe a scuplture
by Michelangelo, Bernini, or Canova for an extended period
of time bears the experience of a lifetime. So much so that
the drawing produced represents a mere secondary apparition
to the act of observation.
