Manifest's Drawing Center's program is an over two-decade old educational and collaborative learning environment serving as a resource for people of all ages and backgrounds to undertake serious study of visual arts, especially drawing, at all levels. Founded by professors and students from Cincinnati area colleges, the Manifest Drawing Center provides an educational opportunity which supplements (or complements) programs at other existing institutions, or fills the empty niche left by the diminishing arts-education in many public schools. The Drawing Center also serves as bridge to help art students transition into art professionals. As artists, students, and teachers ourselves, we know how transformative a rich creative life can be, and how significant drawing can be in honing one’s ability to perceive the world around them with clarity, precision, and intelligence. Our philosophy is that learning to draw is learning to see, and learning to draw well is learning to see clearly. This, we know, makes a person of any background, profession, or age a better thinker, citizen, and overall person in the world. This philosophy expands outward from drawing to include photography, painting, and other related disciplines studied and practiced in our studios. |
