statement
Kathiucia Dias was born in 1983 and spent most of her childhood and adolescence in New York until moving to California to further pursue an art career. After landing a job in a studio and successfully starting her own business she took her first class in oil painting. As an artist she seeks to envelop the viewer in energy through texture, color and composition. The subject matter ranges from portrait, to figurative, landscapes and still lives and they are directly inspired by life. Her artwork explores the balance between stable and erratic patterns providing an exciting base for each drawing and painting. Drawing especially takes on a special role because without it the final piece will be unsuccessful. There is something elegant, satisfying and very beautiful in capturing the idea of form using only the most basic and essential of elements and yet, drawing is the most demanding in the process of artistic development.
