It
is through drawing that I believe I can begin to understand
my subject and start to possess the mystery that is immediately
inaccessible. I draw the things I love and try to keep it
simple, in order to avoid the superfluous ornaments of composition,
and focus on the integrity, grace and honesty of the individual.
A good drawing is like a bad folk song: poignant and irregular.
