statement
My art practice reflects both an engagement with materials, and an engagement with the creative process. It is not my goal to have complete control over my materials or mastery over my creative process. Instead, I prefer to have a fluid, constantly evolving practice that allows for discovery and wonder. I combine various methods of painting, drawing, printing, and stitching to create works where imagery and materiality are equally important. As I work, I search for the point where the physicality of materials such as paint, thread, or fabric gives way to a larger sensation of existence. It is not a full transformation that I am after, but rather a flickering back and forth between the known materials and a feeling of the infinite.
